Myth: “All immigrants are illegal or breaking the law.”

Reality: That’s simply not true.

Of course there are illegal immigrants in the USA. Those are people who cross the border without inspection or stay in the U.S. beyond the expiration of their visa.

But there is also legal immigrants, which accounts for the vast majority of immigrants in the United States.

Legal immigrants are:

🧑‍🎓 Students who come here to study

👩‍⚕️ Workers who fill essential jobs that most US workers won't do

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family members reunited through sponsorship

🌱 People who follow U.S. immigration laws to live and work here temporarily or permanently

On this Easter Monday, when Christians remember the moment Jesus revealed himself to his disciples—with a message of love, peace, and inclusion—we’re reminded to extend that same grace to the legal immigrants among us.

Welcoming those who follow the rules, contribute to our communities, and seek better lives is not just good policy—it’s human.

Let’s choose compassion over assumptions.
