✨ Myth-Bustin’ Monday!

✨💥 MYTH: If someone marries a U.S. citizen, they get a green card right away. 💍✈️🚫

BUSTED!

🚫Marriage to a U.S. citizen is NOT an instant ticket to permanent residency. 📜 Here’s what you NEED to know:

✅ Marriage is just the first step. The green card process involves filing applications, background checks, interviews, and meeting specific eligibility requirements.

⏳ Timing matters! The wait depends on whether the spouse is already in the U.S. or abroad. For those outside the U.S., consular processing can a minimum of one year, or maybe even several years.

🚨 Beware of shortcuts. Entering into a marriage for the sole purpose of getting a green card is considered fraud and can result in serious legal consequences. Also, getting married doesn't make you eligible for a green card by itself. You must still be admissible, or apply for (and qualify for a waiver). That will add time to the processing.

💡 The takeaway: Love may be instant, but the green card is NOT. If you’re planning to sponsor your spouse, let us guide you through every step of the process to avoid delays and headaches.
